Team China Head Coach Bill Poly had a few words to say to everyone apart of Team China and Guangzhou Scorpions .
Official Statement:
"I would like to congratulate the hard work and efforts the Chinese boys have made in particular the players of the Guangzhou Scorpions and squad members the team China. They have achieved amazing feats in getting to the point where they will play at an "a" class venue after the Port Adelaide v Gold Coast in Shanghai this weekend. I cannot believe from the humble beginnings of a few Chinese boys that couldn't bounce a footy to now playing at an international venue in front of a sell out crowd the game that we all have grown up with and love.
I apologise for not being there to see history in the making however even from a far knowing that we all had a hand in this dream becoming real is so humbling.
I would like to personally thank the efforts of Zhang "Howard" Hao for his tireless efforts, his passion for the game and the vision to develop AFL in China and super recruit for Port Adelaide Chen Shaoliang for continuing his dream despite the hurdles of injury and living abroad, to be an important and crucial cog being in Shanghai to be a part of this historic moment.
A very big congrats to coach Sulzy who is brilliantly coaching the scorps and taking them to another level from when I left China.
I can't wait to be back with the boys and continue this amazing journey as the head coach for Team China when they come to Australia in August to play in the International Cup 2017.
Good luck Scorps in the ASIA Cup and team china during the main event."
